I am 5'6" and I have a 20" vertical. I am doing the exercises that should increase it but I am not seeing any results. When should I be able to jump high enough to dunk?

Hi Ann Marie. Unfortunately, I cannot give you a password because I am not the creator of the program. Please email Jacob, the creator of the Jump Manual, and ask him to send you the password and give you better download instructions. Just reply to the email he sent you with the download link and you should be fine.

Hey Jesse. Yeah, I've seen someone 5'5" dunk, and dunk REALLY WELL. Just go to YouTube and search for "5'5" dunker" and there should be a video.

Being tall helps, but it doesn't really matter when it comes to dunking. In fact, the shorter you are, the better your dunks look. Just work on improving your vertical leap and you will eventually dunk.

I am 47 and I really am getting this information for a 14 year old. He is a beast. He has so much potential but can hardly harness it. He often wants to compare himself to me at his age. I told him that I only had coaches to rely on for advice and they did exacted what you talked about in this article. They lead me and others to over train. I went to two free agent football tryouts, was not affiliated with a College program and was left up to my own interpretation and previous poor coaching techniques to attempt to go to the next level. My workout consisted of trying to bench press 300 lbs 10 set of ten in an eight hour period, squat 400 lbs 10 sets of 10 in an eight hour period, run bleachers for an hour with a 40 pound weight jacket daily, pull 35 pound sled 20-40 yard sprints three days a week and run three miles a day five days a week. Not surprising, somewhere around the 5.5 hour mark and in the middle of my 6 rep of 10 with 40o lbs squat my entire left side collapsed. First my hip, then my shoulder, and finally my knee. I was under the impression that if I did more my physical ability would be like no other and I would be unique. I ended up being uniquely stupid... I have been trying to help my 14 year old by trying to let him pace himself, but know he is stuck on wanting to dunk a basketball and is doing everything he can to get immediate results. Until just now, I have been enabling him. I have purchased him a 20 pound weight jacket, a metal sled, jump soles and recently a membership into a gym that allows him to lift weights. I had not learned from my past.):::~ Because I have spent so much money on him, his mom is skeptical of any new programs, equipment or videos and asked me not to buy anything else because she can't see where any of it helps. I can see some improvement, but at the rate he is going, and how much more work he would have to put into these exercise, he will end up just like me before me ended up me. If this is does not really work, he will be devastated, his mom through, and I looking like the bad guy, If indeed we purchase this is it at all possible for someone to document and make it a part of your promotion. I think I am going to tryout for pro football at 48?????????????????

Thanks Travis. I know this info may be basic to you, but not every athlete may have the jump training knowledge & experience you do. This article is more for the beginner/intermediate athlete looking to build a solid training foundation. It's also a good refresher for advanced athletes who may have forgotten a few things. Stay tuned for more advanced info!
