I have the Jump Manual but can't do the exercises because i don't have access to a gym on weekends. I'm 14 6'6" with a 26 inch vertical and can dunk easily. Been to gym for about 8-9 months. Got any tipson increasing my vertical even more?

Hi, I'm Tom, 6ish tall and 18 years old. I can nearly dunk the basketball! i've been practising to do so for two years.. (not with plyo's or such but just go out and try to jump higher everytime)

I'm starting to fear I will never go higher! But I desperately want to
will I ever be able to?

Hey Dan, I know u wish to hear my progress.
My recently 24inch standing vertical leap, I have no idea about my measurement...because in my place the wall block my jumping ablity...if using vert leap measure machine ...I think will more... maybe about 26 inch... recently I am practice on correct jumping technique

One year ago I drop message at here, and I follow ur tips, I also purchase the Jump Manual but I get less gains. I think the most problem was I use most of time to play basketball, or having exam in my college, I definetly lack on gym, I only having 1 month inside weigth training gym and do the jump manual, I don ve a specific correct adding weight because I got *no idea about 1RM*.

I know this year I definetely can dunk, I just wish to do the most effective and don't wasting my time. This weekend I start Mr.Adam vertfreak technique and dunk domination...I will updated a reply again when I got a pretty inches ^^

I'm 16 years old, 6'1 and 180ish pounds. My vertical is about 30 inches, and I can do normal dunks (nothing amazing) pretty comfortably. I've never really done any weight lifting or vertical jump training besided screwin around and dunking on a 8 or 9 foot hoop when I was around 12. How high do you think I could get my vertical with the jump manual and some hard work?

Hey Cameron. I can't promise you that you will touch the net, but if you follow the Jump Manual, you will definitely jump higher. You can get a copy of the program here.

It is absolutely true that slow twitch remains slow twitch, at least as far as current empirical research has determined, but the fast twitch muscle fiber type 2a's are able to specialize and perform nearly at the level of type 2b with appropriate and specific training geared towards this training effect.

Type 2a fibers have high innate capacities for oxidative AND glycolytic energy sourcing, and it is one's training that will determine how these muscle fibers perform and which of these energy systems the fibers become most adept at using. Muscle contraction speed is purely a function of how much ATP can be produced in a given period of time. As type 2a fibers become more specialized towards the ATP/CP pathway they will start to show performance characteristics similar to type 2b.

To state that you should not be training type 2a fibers is not only neurologically impossible but also shows an incomplete understanding of current research regarding muscle fiber specialization and changes in fiber type composition over time with consistent training of a certain intensity, duration, and frequency. In fact, you could actually say that the type 2a are the most pivotal in developing more power, since their ability to become very similar to type 2b fibers is what will allow an athlete to develop dramatic increases in power output over a multi-year training cycle.

Also, from what current exercise science is teaching, humans do not have type 2b. We have type 2x, which is part of the reason that some animals like apes are so much stronger than us at a similar or smaller size. It goes beyond attachment site locations and joint physics. There is apparently a huge difference between the force potentials of 2x and 2b. Just FYI. This information comes from the Georgia State Exercise Science program, which is run by the guy who wrote the books for the ACSM. That doesn't mean it's 100% fool proof or will not change in the future, but that does mean that it pretty much represents the current understanding of the top minds and research within this field of study.

Hey Liv. I can't give you a specific number, because it will depend on what your standing reach is. The only program I know that doesn't use weights is Air Alert, but it will only work for you if you are a beginner. Do you have much experience with vertical jump training?

I am 5ft 6inches tall. I want to be able to dunk. Do u have any idea how high my vertical jump will need to be for this to happen? Also have you ever heard of a good vertical jump program that doesn't use weight lifting?
